The Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is an interface bus that uses four communication pins, a power pin, and a ground pin. This communication protocol is often used to send data between microcontrollers and smaller peripherals, and works well with either the 1X6 or 2X6 Pmod pin-outs.
